NeoTab – Persian New Tab Extension & Mobile App
A Chrome, Edge and Firefox extension that turns the new tab into a Persian dashboard: official calendar with accurate holidays, weather, currency and gold prices, tasks, bookmarks and everyday tools, plus an Android app, a website and end-to-end encrypted sync.
NeoTab started from a simple need: every time a Persian-speaking user opens a new tab, the information they use every day should already be there. It grew into a full product: a browser extension, an Android app, a marketing site with a blog, and an API service.
Highlights
- Twelve independent widgets (clock, calendar, weather, currency and gold, crypto, tasks, notes, quote of the day…) that can be rearranged or turned off.
- Official Solar Hijri, lunar and Gregorian calendar with accurate public holidays and occasions, linked directly to tasks.
- Deep personalisation: drag-and-drop layout, light and dark themes, wallpapers, and a bilingual Persian/English interface.
- Handy mini tools and a few short games for a break, without leaving the tab.
Engineering
- A fast, lightweight UI built with Preact and Vite, with separate builds for Chrome and Firefox.
- Stale-while-revalidate caching so the tab always opens instantly.
- End-to-end encrypted sync: data is encrypted on the device before upload, so the server cannot read it.
- The Android app is built with Capacitor from the same shared codebase.
